TBEX

I know some of you are fellow bloggers. Can I get a show of hands? Click ‘like’ if you blog too. Feel free to comment too (even if you’re not a blogger). 🙂

How many are ‘travel bloggers’? I consider myself a travel blogger, even tho I blog about a lot of different things. I love to travel, love to take pictures of everything I see and do, love to try new foods/drinks/music/culture, and love to share all about it.

So, I decided to head up to Minneapolis for the TBEX next weekend. The “Travel Blog Exchange”. It bills itself as the “world’s largest gathering of travel bloggers, writers, new media content creators, and social media savvy travel industry professionals”.

Is anybody out there going to be at the TBEX (Memorial Day Weekend in Minneapolis/St Paul)? If you are, let’s connect!

I’m really looking forward to this as an opportunity to meet some great people and learn more about blogging and how to improve mine.

Have any of you ever been to a blogging event like this? I’m wondering how it all works. What did you like about it? Not like about it? What did you get out of it? Was it helpful? Can you give me any feedback?

Is anybody from around that area? Have any suggestions for things I really should see/do while I’m there?

  1. I know you blog about different things. I still think you could divide them into a couple more blogs . i think all the ones about the sea should all be in one place alone. They are very encouraging. But that’s just one old womans’ opinion. I do have a tiny blog I started for family – what my brothers and I remember about our parents and grandparents and great grands. I think when our grands get older they might like to have some of the family stories.

    • Thanks Bonnie,
You know I started this blog as a way to get my work past the editors, right? I was having such a hard time getting my photos accepted on the stock sites, and my writing past an editor. I figured I could make a blog and get them out to the world and people could judge for themselves.
I didn’t realize how hard it would be to get ‘noticed’ in the blogging world. I’m still doing fine with my original blog (after having to start over), but my new blog is still not getting any traffic and I can’t figure out why or find anyone to help me with it. I switched to self hosted only so I could monetize it.
So, now I’m already trying to keep up with 2 blogs and can barely manage to keep 1 going! Especially with all the crap going on with my computers over here!
I get your point about sticking to the subject, but really it’s all so tied together in my life I wouldn’t know how to start.
I think it’s a good idea to have a family blog with all that history for people to find later on. I’m the only one in my family who has any interest in that sort of thing (tho I only have 1 brother left and we don’t talk). I have a house full of old photos, etc and no one to pass them to.
